Plate Number Coils United States Stamps

The plate number coils have the number of the plates used or the plates themselves printed on each stamp. These identifying marks are used to state who the printer was and where the stamp came from. Some collectors enjoy collecting stamps based on the printers and designers who made them. Having the plate number coils printed at the bottom allows for this collecting, and makes it easier for the customer to buy.
