Basketball card collecting is a great hobby for kids, and chances are, you may just enjoy them as well.

Once you know what to look for, you can start your search for basketball cards in your local area, at flea markets, and especially online. The first thing to think about when you are trying to find valuable basketball cards is the year that you are interested in. Whether you remember a favorite championship, or there was a big year for a certain team, these are usually the most valuable basketball cards that you can find. For example, the cards produced during the Laker’s domination of the NBA are very valuable, as are the cards that were produced when the association was first formed.
There are also many collectible basketball cards that are highly sought after due to their designs or for the events that they commemorate. Lastly, basketball cards that promote novelty teams, such as the Harlem Globetrotters are also surprisingly valuable. You can typically find these at garage sales, since the owners may not realize that there is a market for these types of cards. This is a great way to easily find very valuable cards and you’ll typically only have to pay pennies on the dollar when you shop garage sales or auction sites for these basketball cards.
