There are a number of different forms that sports memorabilia items can take, including both modern memorabilia and vintage memorabilia. Some of the sports memorabilia items that you can purchase and add to your collection include:
- - Autographed sports memorabilia items, including balls, gloves, bats, cards and anything else that is capable of being signed. Here you should be watching out for clean surfaces, signatures that are clear and legible and certificates of authenticity.
- - Sports cards, which should feature sharp corners, smooth surfaces and good image quality. Autographed sports cards are certainly worth more, and the most valuable are rookie cards for athletes that later go on to become stars.
- - Equipment from games such as balls, bats, jerseys, rackets, shoes and other sporting equipment that was actually used during a game by a star athlete can go on to be extremely valuable.
- - Team jerseys and other apparel memorabilia is another good option for collecting sports memorabilia items, but you should be looking for signs of wear such as authentic wear and tear, sweat stains and other proof that the apparel was used in the sport.
- - Stadium items also make good sports memorabilia items, including seats and turnstiles, plain signs, neon signs, benches and any other items that come from stadiums as they can be very rare and extremely valuable, especially in situations where they are historically significant or vintage. If the stadium is no longer standing, then these particular sports memorabilia items can be even more valuable because they are irreplaceable piece of sporting history.
- - Ticket Stubs and Programs are also great sports memorabilia items. You should be looking for programs and ticket stubs and other paper items that come from important or historically valuable tournaments, games and other events such as Super Bowl events, World Series events or US Open events for example, as these will be the most valuable.
- - Bobbleheads are more modern, but they are still great sports memorabilia items. These are plastic dolls that have oversized heads affixed to a spring. If you have a full set of Bobblehead dolls, they may be really valuable. There are also ceramic items that are worth even more when they are in excellent condition.
- - Pins are sports memorabilia items that are often offered for all sports and you can find them online or through sporting goods collectors. There are both modern and vintage pins that you can buy. Full series or full sets of pins can be worth a lot to the right collector.
- - Boxing Items are harder to find in comparison to most other sports memorabilia items, so if you are interested in a valuable type of sporting memorabilia, consider collecting memorabilia and collectibles from boxing tournaments and the boxing sport.

When it comes to high value sports related collectibles, sports autographs are among the best. Whether it’s an autographed baseball bat, basketball jersey or a football helmet, autographed merchandise can be worth its weight in gold. If you are interested in getting some sports autographs, but you don’t know where to look, here’s a quick guide to help you build up your collection.
1. Right from the source
One of the easiest ways to get sports autographs is simply to go to games and ask the players for them directly. Most will more than willing to offer autographs, but it is best to wait until after the game is over before you approach them. The majority of arenas will have an area set up where the fans can interact with the players. It will be up to the individual players as to whether or not they will actually sign something, but most will. This is the most economical way to get a sports autograph, since you will only need to purchase the item that you want to have signed. As a plus, these autographs are often personalized, making them even more special to the collector.
2. From licensed vendors
You can get authentic sports autographs from licensed vendors that have worked out an agreement either with a certain league or with an individual player. These stores will typically have a wide variety of merchandise available and it is fairly easy to get a hold of a popular player’s autograph this way. The major downside for many consumers is that these stores do charge premium prices for the merchandise they sell.
3. From other private collectors
If you are looking for vintage or rare sports autographs, this is a great way to find them. Private collectors will sometimes have a disbursement sale, or you can attend auctions and pick up some great deals. Once again, the prices will probably be a little high, but you will have access to a wide variety of different types of autographed merchandise.
4. At online auctions
This has become one of the most popular ways to get sports autographs. You can find literally thousands of different autographs online and many sellers have built up a great reputation for providing authentic merchandise. However, it is smart to be cautious when buying sports memorabilia online since there are some sellers that do take advantage of people. Ask for certificates of authenticity, or have the item appraised before you buy to ensure that you are getting authentic autographs.
These are just a few ways that the average collector can get their hands on sports autographs. Wherever you shop, just take the time to do your homework to make sure that you are getting a real piece of sports memorabilia. By following this step, you can be assured that your autograph will have more than just sentimental value.
Collecting sports autographs is a great hobby for kids and can help them get involved in sports. In addition, it serves as a great way to spend more quality time with your kids.

During the 1990s, it wasn’t uncommon to see Michael Jordan posters lining the walls of kids rooms. Born in 1963, Jordan played college ball at the University of North Carolina and began his professional career (and played his best years) with National Basketball Association team, the Chicago Bulls. Now retired, for the third and final time, Jordan’s career brought him fame and fortune, and made him one of the most recognizable names in sports worldwide. Many consider him to be the greatest basketball player of all time.
Some of the best Michael Jordan posters showed him in action. He was famous for his ability to change direction in mid-air, and stay airborne so long than commentators often said that he could fly. He was often called “Air Jordan” because of his amazing ability to leap high and stay there. His presence in the game of basketball made it an even more popular spectator sport, as fans and those curious about the sports phenomenon wanted to see him make his signature moves. He was also one of the first players to earn huge product endorsement deals and benefit from aggressive marketing.
Many Michael Jordan posters that collectors want today are from the period of 1991-1993, because it was during those years he helped lead the Bulls to 3 NBA championships in a row. They seemed unbeatable with Jordan at the helm, though after the second championship, fans and experts alike speculated whether they could actually pull off a third.
But they did win the third championship, sparking cries of “Three-peat,” and Michael Jordan posters stating the same, across the nation. Jordan then decided to pursue a career in baseball and left during the beginning of the following season to do so. His baseball career was unremarkable, however, and he returned to basketball and the Bulls, who won 3 more championships with him on the team, another 3 years in a row, and set an NBA record for the most wins in a season.
He retired for the second time in 1999, but two years later he came back, this time to the Washington Wizards, and was once again the subject of new Michael Jordon posters and with new product endorsement deals. But he donated his salary to help victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks. After two years of leading in scoring despite his injuries, Jordan played his last game in 2003, and was honored by a 3-minute standing ovation.
Michael Jordan holds a number of NBA records, including the most points scored in an all-star game, as well as 2 Olympic gold medals, one won while as a college student, and one earned as part of the 1992 Dream Team of players like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. When looking for Michael Jordan posters online, those featuring in-play shots during regular games are easy to find, but the ones commemorating his many NBA championships and The Olympic Dream Team are the ones usually prized by fans.

January 5th, 2010 — Basketball Cards, Basketball Memorabilia, NBA Collectibles

Although when most people think of collectible cards, they automatically think baseball, basketball cards are actually incredibly popular. There are thousands on the market and many of them depict some of the best players that ever hit the courts. If you are interested in basketball and looking for a valuable collectible, this may just be the perfect fit. Basketball card collecting is a great hobby for kids, and chances are, you may just enjoy them as well.
Let’s take a look at some of the most valuable kinds of collectible basketball cards that are currently on the market. While the most popular are undoubtedly the ones that feature star players, there are a few that may surprise you with their overall value. Once you know what to look for, you can start your search for basketball cards in your local area, at flea markets, and especially online. There are numerous online auction sites that offer collectible basketball cards, and you just never know which treasures you might uncover on any given day.
The first thing to think about when you are trying to find valuable basketball cards is the year that you are interested in. Whether you remember a favorite championship, or there was a big year for a certain team, these are usually the most valuable basketball cards that you can find. For example, the cards produced during the Laker’s domination of the NBA are very valuable, as are the cards that were produced when the association was first formed.
There are also many collectible basketball cards that are highly sought after due to their designs or for the events that they commemorate. As an example, the basketball cards that are produced for Olympic teams are incredibly popular, especially for years that the United States was victorious. Many of these cards will feature your favorite players over the years and this is a great way to add to your collection.
By far however, the most valuable basketball cards are the ones that are signed by the actual players. While there are some reprints on the market, they are not going to be as valuable as the ones that have authentic autographs. The overall sticker price and the value will be determined by the player that signed the card as well as the year that it was produced. It’s a good idea to start looking for your favorite players, but always keep an eye out for a rare card, especially if it is older. You may just stumble on a gold mine if you keep your eyes open.
Lastly, basketball cards that promote novelty teams, such as the Harlem Globetrotters are also surprisingly valuable. You can typically find these at garage sales, since the owners may not realize that there is a market for these types of cards. This is a great way to easily find very valuable cards and you’ll typically only have to pay pennies on the dollar when you shop garage sales or auction sites for these basketball cards.
