Morgan dollars are one of the most popular type of US dollars, and one of the most popular coins no matter what the denomination, collected today. Most collections, whether new or nurtured over a period of years, will contain one or many Morgan dollars. Those minted in the first years of US Morgan dollar production bear dates from 1878 to 1884. Some of these early Morgan dollars are marked CC for the Carson City mint, making them more valuable than other Morgan silver dollars because of the small number produced at that mint.
