The Classic Head (1808-14) has a long past that signaled the end of an era. The Classic Head (1808-14) underwent many changes in its lifespan. Most notably was when it and several other coins were used to recommend the Mint’s Chief Engraver Robert Scot to consider retirement. When he finally agreed, a new engraver took his place and performed many changes on the Classic Head (1808-14) and many other coins printed in the U.S. Mint. Although not as illustrious as other coins in U.S. history, this one-cent penny evolved into what we have in modern day times.
