Large Cents Coins: Canada Coins & Paper Money
Canada large cents are excellent additions to any coin collection. The first large cents were struck in 1858, with those and the 1859 large cents depicting Queen Victoria. These large cents were produced in huge numbers, making production unnecessary again until 1876. More large cents struck between 1876 and 1901 also bore the Queen's likeness. Canada large cents offer variety for the collector, because large cents featuring a portrait of Edward VII were struck each year from 1902 until 1910. And beginning in 1911 they bore the likeness of George V, until Canada stopped producing the large cents in 1920.Discount & Bargain
These coins offer collectors extra interest because some were minted in England, some in Canada. Heaton and Birmingham issues bear an “H” beneath the date, while those minted in London and Ottawa have no letter at all. Collectors can find great coins among Canada large cents, thanks to different variations between the coins, too. Large cents minted in 1859 bear four different types of dating, as well as a rare brass striking. And three varieties made with differently sized leaves and dates on the reverse side were minted in 1891.
Those variations and the general appeal of Canada coins make Canadian large cents essential for the serious coin collector or the amateur just starting out with a new hobby. Canada large cents can be found up for bid as single coins, lots and small sets, and in every grade and condition of wear and circulation in these fabulous coin auctions.
