In 1934, the price of gold rose substantially, and as a result, many new limited mint coins were made and sent into circulation during the period of 1930-38. As the years continued, the Federal Reserve power moved from New York to Washington. As the need and demand for coinage continued to grow, more coins were printed and pressed into circulation. With the First World War and other periods having ended for a time, it was a period of economical growth. Gold coins were especially in high demand as silver prices began to fall due to a large U.S. silver buyout.
