Ads, Flyers Movie Memorabilia Entertainment Memorabilia
Movie ads and flyers are slowly gaining in popularity and value amongst movie memorabilia collectors. Movie flyer and handout postcards are a relatively recent addition to movie promotion, and started in Europe in the late 80s and early 90s. Generally flyers and postcards were produced to promote film s at film festivals, and proved popular enough that they caught on in other arenas. Exhibitors, produce these not by the studios, and so there are infinite variations on them. Some designs can be difficult to obtain because they are produced locally and in small print runs, thus enhancing their value. This is particularly true for independent movies with an initially small release that eventually became hits.Discount & Bargain
Movie ads can be run anywhere, in any medium. Their ephemeral makes them scarce and therefore collectible. Postcards and flyers come in different sizes, such as regular, odd-sized, die-cut, lenticular, scented, stickers, prismic. Some postcards were intended for promotional purposes only, while others were sold as movie merchandise to the general public.
Movie flyers, which are known as chirashis in Japan, are no longer produced in the US. They are intended to be handed out on street corners near movie theaters. This is no longer done outside of Europe and Asia. Japanese chirashis have been printed for decades. Flyers from the 60's are now considered valuable. Unlike movie posters, movie flyers are small and therefore easy to store. Their excellent print quality and eye catching images make them suitable collecting by those with limited space.
