Samplers Textiles, Linens Antiques
If you are interested in collecting linens, textiles and other similar antiques, one of the more interesting antique collectibles that you may want to consider is samplers. Samplers are still popular today, but in the past they were even more popular than now. They are essentially framed or matted pieces of cloth that have embroidery, cross stitching or other needlecraft art on them.Discount & Bargain
Samplers today come in neat little kits at your local craft store, where the design is printed in colored ink right on the cloth or canvas, and all you have to do is select the right floss or thread from the kit and start stitching. In the past, however, these arts were conducted without a pattern, making this samplers act as unique tests for fun designs, many depicting fun phrases, cute pictures and other things on them. Each of these textiles and linens is hand stitched and then displayed on the wall for everyone to appreciate. I
f you enjoy needle crafts today like embroidery, hand sewing, cross stitching or a similar craft, you will love collecting samplers and other similar antiques. These unique textiles and linens withstand the test of time well because they are usually framed or otherwise preserved, and they give a little story about the person who created them. Imagine a stitched up "Home Sweet Home", one of the original samplers. Today's embroidery and cross stitching kits are much more intricately designed, but the same concepts are still in place.
