Today's quilts and bedspreads, at least the commercially manufactured ones, are crafted using machines with computers attached to them. They are mass produced more easily, but they have lost much of their quality as a result. When it comes to textiles and linens that are considered to be antiques, quilts and bedspreads certainly had a higher level of quality, not only because they were hand crafted, but because they were a much larger necessity in years past.
