Indian Wars (1866-97) Militaria Collectibles
The so-called Indian Wars from 1866-97 were an epic period of American History, and were the period most often immortalized in Western movies. Colorful figures like Custer, Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse, along with the continued popularity of the Western as demonstrated by HBO’s series “Deadwood,” make this period particularly attractive to the collector of militaria.

By now, the popular imagination has caught up with the historical reality—far from the pop culture standby of rampaging Indian warriors, this period consisted mostly of white soldiers and settlers exterminating Indians in massacre after massacre.
