Advertising has always been an important part of all retail establishments. Every retail establishment that exists today knows that they need to be in advertising, as they will fail as a company without it. This is how the early retail establishments got ahead in earlier generations, as they began to realize the importance of advertising to the success of their company. Because of this, multiple types of advertisements and other advertising paraphernalia were created, and are considered collectors items today.

These advertisements are collectibles to many, as they simply show the differences between the advertising of the current generations, and the advertising of generations past. Some of these advertisements are still floating around today, but many were simply discarded.
The other major thing that people like to collect as far as retail establishments advertising is concerned are the actual give-aways and free merchandise that companies gave away as a form of publicity and advertising. A lot of the retail establishments that existed would have their names printed on multiple different things to be given away.
