Collect Current US Currency
The first thing that you should do as you work to start a paper money collection is collect the current paper money pieces of the United States. All of these different paper money pieces are sold at face value, meaning that their value is the same as you pay for it. The prices are low for these paper currency pieces that will eventually see a higher value.
You can also collect the versions of US paper currency that have recently been stopped. Because of recent currency changes, these other pieces are no longer minted but are still readily available for face-value prices.
Pick Up Current Foreign Currency Pieces
You do not need to stick to only current US currency when trying to quickly start a paper money collection. Current foreign currency pieces can be just as easy to obtain, adding an interesting diversity to your collection. You can easily go to currency exchange locations or can utilize friends who are traveling to foreign countries to get as many of these different currency pieces as possible.

You have not run out of options once you collect all of the current US paper currency pieces and the different foreign currency pieces that you can get your hands on. You do not have to take the slow and steady approach to starting a paper money collection if you are willing to take pieces that are not as expensive or rare. Look for current currency pieces to start to collect paper money. This money is going to eventually rise in value, giving you the ability to start a collection with a high monetary future at a low cost.
Take the time to research these different currency pieces to see exactly how old they are, and what the most valuable ones may be. Certain pieces of paper money may have been minted at certain locations on a limited basis, which will eventually raise their value.
